Kathryn Hahn Holds This Surprisingly Rare MCU Record

Kathryn Hahn made headlines as the first female character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to show her bare butt on screen. This moment comes from her role in the Disney+ series Agatha All Along where she plays Agatha Harkness, a character who has quickly become a fan favorite.

Hahn, 51, revealed on The Jennifer Hudson Show that the nude scene was her idea, and that it was rooted in the character’s head space.

“When we see Agatha at the beginning, she’s completely without her powers,” Hahn told Jennifer Hudson in a new interview on the Jennifer Hudson Show. “She has to bust out of the spell with help from some mysterious characters. When she first realizes it, I think the description was like, ‘she puts on a robe and goes outside.’ I was like, ‘I wonder if she would put on a robe? Because she’s in a feral state.’ I think she was just feral. She wouldn’t even be thinking of who she is.”

That’s commitment,” host Jennifer Hudson commented, to which Hahn joked, “There was a lot of double-sided tape.”

The host then highlighted that the nude scene marks a major milestone within the MCU.

“You do realize you are the first woman to show your butt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?” Hudson asked — to audience cheers.

“I didn’t know it at the time,” Hahn replied. “But also to know that it’s behind Thor is pretty great. Thor, me — just our butts encased in gold,” she joked, alluding to Chris Hemsworth’s memorable moment in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, where he too bared his backside.

Hahn also revealed that she talked to a real-life witch to get ready for her role in “Agatha.”

“Her mission was to try to de-trope what we see as witches and really add the aspect of community and nature,” Hahn said.

“Well, you know I think people have preconceived notions sometimes about witches [and] the idea of witchcraft,” the WandVision star told Hudson.

Hahn then shared she met with the woman via Zoom on a weekly basis, adding “she really just grounded it in just trusting your intuition as being, like, a huge part of being a witch to her.”
